Evangelina’s POV
I am running around the forest looking for them. When I hear the cries I know I am close. I reach the spot where I see 4 rogues circling the girls.
“Two pretty princesses. We have something special planned for you.” One of the rogues says. Before anything can happen I need the girls to run.
“Girls. I need you to run as fast as you can when I give you the signal.” I say and I see the shock on the girls’ faces when I project my voice in their head. After that warning I “fall” out of the tree I was hiding in with a big umph.
Whimpering as though I am in pain, the four rogues come to inspect me, leaving the girls alone a few feet away.
“Now!” I yell towards the girls who quickly get up and start running. As soon as they turn their backs, I don’t risk it. I grab my dagger that I keep hidden and cut one of the rogue's achilles. He falls immediately and as the other three turn to look at me I quickly stand up and slit one’s throat. The other two move quickly and start to attack me. We all get a few good hits in when I jump behind one, twisting their neck until I feel them go limp. I quickly doge the other and stab his thigh with my claws. He quickly falls and clutches his thigh. Before he can make a sound I push my hand through his chest and pull out his heart. I quickly ensure all four of the rogues are dead and head the same way the girls went. I see them hiding in a bush just inside of their territory. When they see me they run and hug me.
“Thank you for saving us.” One says. “Yeah, thank you.” The other says. I smile sweetly down to them. Both have tears in their big gray eyes.
“You are welcome girls. Now go on. I will watch you to make sure that you get back safely.” I say to them and they smile slightly and start running further into their lands. After about 50 yards I hear shouting and see 10 men running towards the girls. They reach the girls, but 9 of them keep running towards me. They must smell the blood on me. I turn and start running, but after 20 feet I run into another rogue. I don’t know what he is doing this far in the pack lands, but before I can comprehend what is going on he claws my chest. I quickly gather myself and claw his face then flip over and snap his neck. But the stop took too much time and I was surrounded by warriors.
“STOP THERE ROGUE!” One warrior says.
“DON’T MOVE OR WE WILL SHOOT!” Another says summoning fire in his hands, ready to fire away, literally. I stand there and kneel, putting my hands behind my head, startling them with my compliance. They move in closer and put silver handcuffs on me. I am cooperating but they are being rough. First, the gash to my chest from the rogue and now them putting the silver on does not help. They are dragging me towards where I saw the girls enter. When we hit the clearing I hear the sobs of the girls.
“NO! What are you doing to her?! NO don’t hurt her!” One of the girls screams, while the other looks at me crying.
“Girls stop. She is a rogue and will be handled as such!” I hear a man say.
“But she sa..” Before the girl could finish I cut her off, mindlinking her and her sister.
“I will be okay, girls. I promise. Don’t tell them about what happened in the forest. It is our secret okay?” I project to them and they both look at me and nod their heads. “Thank you.” I project again, as the guards drag me to a door just before the center of town. Once they opened the door they drag me down the stairs making my hip and bottom bruise.
They take me to a room and chain me to the ceiling with more silver. My toes are barely touching the ground and my arms are hanging straight above my head. The gash on my chest is slowly healing, thanks to the fact that silver doesn’t completely inebriate my wolf, unlike others.
“She is pretty. Maybe we can have some fun with her before Beta gets here.” I hear one guard say.
“You are disgusting! Other packs may do that savage deed, but we do not. Best keep your hands to yourself and mouth shut!” The other spits. Interesting.
After about an hour or so I hear the dungeon door open with four sets of feet coming towards me. I look up once I hear them get closer and see four more people have joined in with the two that were guarding me. The two main people in front are the Beta and Gamma, guessing by their aura. The Beta is taller with brown hair cut short on the sides, but longer and curly on the top. His eyes are light orange and they are throwing daggers at me.
The Gamma has long dirty blond hair that is tied in a bun, with dull blue eyes. He held a look of surprise.
“A female rogue? She tried to take the girls?” The Gamma asks in almost disbelief. Female rogues are rare, or so most people think.
“Yes. They caught her standing over the top of her partner's lifeless body, fleeing from our territory.” The Beta sneers. The Gamma just looks at me questioningly. You can tell he is questioning what the true story is.
The door clanks open and they walk in along with two warriors, I would say head warriors. The Gamma and Beta stand in the corner watching as the two warriors circle me, trying to make me nervous.
“She looks so tiny Jason, how long do you think it will take to break her?” The warrior asks.
The other warrior hums while he looks me up and down.
“She may be small, but don’t underestimate her. I give her an hour.” Jason says, looking toward the other warrior. “What do you think, Vick?” He asks.
“An hour? No, I don't think she will last that long. I give her half.” Vick says.
Jason smiles. “Let’s see who wins this round.” He says while another guard wheels in a cart. I look and see multiple instruments. Torture instruments to be exact. I watch as Vick grabs a glove that has silver knucks attached and Jason grabs a metal bat with silver spikes.
Vick walks to me and punches me in the shoulder, effectively dislocating my shoulder and stabbing me with the silver spikes at the same time. Jason came up behind me, whacking my thighs with the bat, successfully cutting my legs. I can tell that they have done this before. Each time I move I will be in horrible pain.
I stay silent though. Gritting my teeth as pain radiates through me.
“Why were you on our lands?” Jason asks me. I stay quiet.
“You sent you?” Vick asks. Again I stay quiet.
“What did you want with the princesses?” Jason asks. I say nothing.
“Ahh. She thinks she can stay silent.” Vick says looking towards Jason. They strike me again and ask the same questions, still receiving nothing from me. This aggravates them and they switch to other tools. After two hours of torture the Beta leaves. After three hours everybody leaves. Leaving me hanging in the room with torn flesh and blood mixed with sweat dripping down. I smile to myself in satisfaction. They will not break me.
Beta Jaxon
That rogue is definitely tougher than we all thought. After standing there waiting for her to make a sound more than a grunt for hours I had to leave. I need to check on the girls and Alpha will be home soon. The girls are twins and they're both 9, Nalissa and Talissa. They are as close to me as my own sister, so imagine my upset when I was told they were missing. They were supposed to be playing in the playground with the other kids, I don’t know how I am going to explain this to the Alpha without him killing the guard and sitter at the playground.
As I walk into the castle, I hear screaming. Sh*t I must have been down in the dungeon for longer than I thought. Alpha King Warrick Augustus is home.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE GIRLS WERE TAKEN?! WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE WATCHING THEM?!” I hear as I head up the stairs toward his office.
“Alpha.” I say as I walk into the office. I see him holding our delta by the throat, his wolf just at the surface. He turns his deadly gaze to me and I lower my head in submission.
“Jaxon. What the hll happened? You better start now before I let Viggo tear every person’s head off.” He says deadly calm. I raise my head and look up. Before I can start speaking Delta Daniel runs from the room as soon as Warrick drops him.
“During playtime at school the girls decided to sneak out and pick flowers. They ventured out too far into the forest and were almost taken by rogues. We found several dead and one alive. From the scene it seems that two rogues turned on the other four and attempted to take the princesses. The girls managed to escape and when our warriors got to the remaining two rogues one of them turned on their partner and killed him. We have the only rogue left in custody now.” I explain and I can feel his aura slowly receding.
“I assume the rogue is being questioned for information?” He asked and I nod my head.
“Yes. Vick and Jason are handling it.” I answer. Then he nods his head and studies me.
“Well? What information have they gotten so far?” He asks me and I wince a little because of the answer I am going to give him.
“So far the rogue has said nothing. They are going to try again in a few hours.” I say and his eyebrows shot up, while his eyes turned black with a silver ring around them, indicating his wolf was fully out.
“I expect information. If they can’t deliver then I will need to do it, and we both know if I go down there, there will be nothing that the rogue can say. Viggo will rip their throat out upon seeing them.” He says in a grumble, taking back control and his eyes returning to the blue with orange flecks they normally are.
“Yes Alpha.” I say and bow my head. I look up and see him running a hand down his face.
“Go back down there and don’t leave until you have information.” He says and I bow my head.
“Yes Alpha.” I say and take my leave. King Warrick and I have been friends since we were kids, he never cared that I wasn’t born Beta, he was like my brother and I to him. We still are, but when he is on edge like this it is best to let him cool down before talking with him about anything at all.
As I walk down. the hallway is quiet. I sigh and walk the rest of the way to the cells with my hands fidgeting. Why won’t this rogue talk? I think the longest I have seen anyone hold information in was 2 hours, as soon as it hit 2 hours and 15 minutes I had to leave. Torture is not for the faint of heart and it wears on a person when you have to watch. The only time I take joy in it is when a person is truly evil, but I don’t truly believe this rogue is evil. She was probably under some order and I need to find out what that was before Warrick comes to question her himself.
After I enter the holding area I walk towards the rogue woman’s cell. As I peer in my breath catches in my throat. Her hands are above her head, still in silver chains hanging from the ceiling. Her head is down and her breathing is even, indicating that she is unconscious. Now that I am calmer I take her in. Her hair is covered in so much blood you cannot tell the color of her hair. Her body is covered as well. I inhale and realize that her scent isn’t as pungent as most rogues we encounter. As if sensing me her head shoots up and my breath catches as her eyes meet mine. Her eyes are not like anything I have ever seen, earlier they were gray indicating that her gift is sight, but now they are so dark gray they almost look black.
There are many different eye colors, each indicates what type of gift you have. Green for earth, Blue for water, Purple for electricity, Orange for fire, Pink for portals, yellow for wind (weird I know), Gray for seer, brown for a person who does not have a gift. Each person has varying shades though, a long time ago people based the amount of power you had on how dark or vibrant the color was, but it has been proved that power isn’t just the gift it is also the person so that classification has been rid of.
I shake my head slightly to rid myself of the thoughts.
“You might want to start talking soon or King Warrick will be visiting and what he will do will make what the warriors did feel like child’s play.” I warn her, hoping that she will start talking at the mention of the King and threat. She huffs and looks to the side. I noticed that she didn’t look down, which indicates defeat. She kept her head as high as she could. She did that during the torture too which only shows how strong she is. If she weren’t here for attempting to kidnap the girls, I would have admired that, but right now it is only frustrating. I sigh and lean against the wall close to her cell waiting for the next session to begin.
King Warrick
My wolf and I are beyond pi*sed that the girls were almost taken. They should have known better than to leave the playground. They have done it before and were punished with no recess for a week. As they get older they are only giving me a harder time. Since my father passed away two years ago during a rogue attack, I have been the one to lay down the law, while my mother is the nice one. Don’t get me wrong my mother is hа'rd on them, but not to the extent that she was with me. I suppose she was hа'rd on me because I was a little hellion, the girls don’t really get into too much trouble. Not like I did at their age, but how do you control a small boy with two abilities? You need to be hа'rd on them to ensure they don’t destroy everything. Whoever is set to rule next has two abilities and if for some reason that person falls before ascending the throne, the next in line receives another gift.
As I am in the middle of thought, staring at the sunset outside my office window I hear a knock on my door and my mother walks in. I turn to face her and I see the worry on her face. She is naturally blond with chocolate highlights. Her deep blue eyes meet mine.
“Has the rogue said anything yet?” She asks, anger and worry lacing her tone.
“Not yet. They have kept quiet.” I answer and her eyes go wide in surprise.
“Hasn’t said anything? Who is doing the interrogation?” She asks, which annoys me.
“Vick and Jason.” I answer and her brows crease.
“And the rogue hasn’t said one thing?” She asks with disbelief.
“No. They are going to be continuing soon. We should have answers by morning.” I say and she nods her head then walks over to one of the chairs in my office and plops down, sighing.
“How are the girls?” I ask as I go and sit next to her in another chair. She looks at me and shakes her head.
“Honestly, they are shaken. And quiet. They are in Nalissa’s room reading. But I don’t think they are actually reading.” She says looking down to hide the tears in her eyes. “I don’t know what I would have done if they were taken.” She says shakily. I reach over and grab her hand.
“They weren’t and we will make sure to keep a better eye on them.” I say and she nods, squeezing my hand.
“It’s time for dinner.” She says standing up and I follow her to the dining room in silence. I am surprised when we enter the room and the girls are sitting at the table already. Their gray eyes turn to me as I walk in and they look down, knowing that they will be in trouble for leaving the playground. I go to them and bend down, putting my arms over each of their shoulders, hugging them.
“I am so glad you two are safe. Don’t ever do that again. You hear me.” I say as warmly as I can.
“Yes.” Nalissa says. Talissa nods her head acknowledging that she heard me and I sigh, getting up and going to my seat at the table. Talissa has always been the quiet twin, but she stopped talking altogether when our father died 2 years ago. Nobody had any idea why. Doctor’s have said it is most likely because she saw the attack that killed our father and she felt guilty about not telling anybody. She was only 8, she was still coming into her power, so she didn’t understand what she saw. She sees the future, while Nalissa sees the past. Opposite sides of the same coin, both looking just like my mother with their blond hair and chocolate highlights. The only difference they have are the shades of their gray eyes, Nalissa’s are a very light gray, while Talissa’s are a darker shade.
I look at Henry, my gamma and his two parents and smile slightly in acknowledgement. Normally Jaxon and his sister join us, but Jaxon is busy with the rogue and I know Reana, Jaxon’s sister, is either busy with homework or reading.We are all a big family, not by blood but by choice. Henry and I grew up together. It was a given that he would be my gamma, since his father was my father’s gamma.
We met Jaxon in Second grade when he moved here with his mother. He moved here when his mother met her second chance mate, our head warrior who adopted Jaxon and took him in as his own. When he moved here, the three of us quickly formed a brotherhood that could not be broken.
We had dinner in a slightly sad silence. While we are waiting for dessert, I notice the twins are staring at each other, they must be minklinking one another. I see my mother watching them with a smile on her face and tears in her eyes. All of a sudden I see Nalissa look up towards Henry.
“Is the lady okay?” She asks and we all turn our attention to Henry. He gives her a confused look.
“The lady?” He asks her.
“Yes. The lady that sa..” Tali elbows her sister and gives her a look. Nali continues giving her sister a small glare. “The lady we saw in the forest. You took her to get help right?” Nali finishes. I scrunch my brow in concern. What was she talking about? Henry clears his throat and his eyes grow wider, knowing who Nali is talking about. He looks at me then back at Nali before answering.
“Um.. Nali that lady is a rogue who tried to take you and your sister. She is in the cells being questioned.” He answers her honestly and a growl works its way through my throat at the thought of the girls being taken. Then Henry’s word settled in and I couldn’t help the surprised expression I had.
“It was a female who tried to take them? A rogue female?” My mother asked before I could.
“Yes. She was..” Henry starts before Nali yells.
“NO! You can’t lock her in the cells! You can’t hurt her! She..” And before she could finish Tali speaks up, shocking everybody in the room.
“Nali, shut up.” She hissed to her sister. Nali looks at her surprised then narrows her eyes.
“You shut up” Nali starts.
“GIRLS ENOUGH!” My mother shouts, making them wince and look at her wide eyes.
“But..” Nali starts again.
“No buts. That woman tried to take you. If she was nice to you it was only to try to get you both to go with her. We are DONE with this conversation. Now be quiet and eat your dessert.” My mother scolds them and they look down with tears in their eyes.
The rest of the time was quiet. We all take our leave and I go to my office.
Warrick’s POV
All I can think about for the next few hours is the woman rogue. There aren’t many and it is confusing me as to why she was here for the girls. Viggo, my wolf, has been lowly growling and pacing in my head since we have found out.
I hear a knock at the door and Henry walks in.
“Still nothing from the rogue. They are amping up the interrogation.” He updates as soon as he walks in. I feel slight concern for this woman. The next phase is slowly injecting her with wolfsbane , that step hasn’t been done in years. Nobody has lasted this long in interrogation in a very long time, and it surprises me that a woman of all people is keeping her mouth shut.
“Jax never mentioned the rogue being a woman.” I mumble. Heny didn’t look surprised, but his response caught me off guard.
“Does it matter? A rogue is a rogue right? All are treated the same especially when something like this happens.” He answered and a sense of familiarity crossed my mind. That is what I have always said, so why do I care now?
“Right.” I answer him as I study his face, he is excellent at hiding his facial expressions, except when around me. Jax and I are the only ones who can read him. I saw his nostrils flare once when I answered him. I squinted my eyes at him “Why does that upset you?” I ask. He looks down and I can tell something is bothering him.
“Look she hasn’t said anything, but I don’t believe that she was here to take the girls. I don’t know what happened, but something in my gut is telling me that it isn’t what we think it is.” He answers honestly.
“Then why hasn’t she said anything to try and tell us that? By now she has been interrogated for 8 hours, she would have said something to stop that.” I point out to him.
“Look War, I don’t know, it is just a feeling that I can't shake. Maybe she is hiding something else or maybe she did try to take the girls, I don’t know. I just have this gut feeling that…” Before he could continue my door bursts open and the girls rush in. They shouldn’t be here. It is almost midnight, way past their bedtime. That annoyance is quickly replaced by worry when I see their panicked faces.
“You have to help the woman! She will die if you don’t!” Tali yells first, surprising the hll out of me and Henry. She never talks. Why is she talking now, let alone screaming?
“What are you talking about Tali?” I ask, trying to let her words sink in when the shock of her talking wears off.
“She will die if you don’t help her! Please Warrick.. You need to help her.” She begs me. It’s only then I realize that she is talking about the rogue female.
“Talissa, she tried to kidnap you and your sister. She needs to..” Before I can finish, Nali interrupts me.
“ SHE DIDN’T TRY TO KIDNAP US! SHE SAVED US FROM THOSE MEN!” She yells and I stare wide eyed at her. What the hll is going on? “If you don’t believe me I’ll show you.” Nalissa says stubbornly. She walks up to me and grabs my head, to show me the past. More specifically what happened.
I see the girls wandering off and starting to pick flowers laughing and smiling. Next thing I know we are in the forest with four rogues surrounding us. I don’t hear what they say, but I see them circling us and then I see a woman fall out of a tree. I see her lips move, seeming to tell us to run. Talissa grabs my hand and starts to drag me along. I can’t help but keep looking back. The woman who told us to run, is fighting the rogues. Next thing I know we are by the bush and the woman approaches us, covered in blood, but we hug her anyway and the woman says something that I still cannot hear. We ran through the bush looking back once to see the woman’s eyes through the bush. Once we are met by the warriors, Jaxon hugs us then stays close to us. I look back to see the woman gone.
I am pulled out of the memory and gaze surprisingly into my little sister’s eyes. I had no idea she was that powerful by this age. She was able to show me her memory, no sound yet, but still she is very powerful. Something about the woman had Viggo, my wolf, running around in my head growling.
“See, she saved us. You can’t let her die.” Tali says from next to her sister. I quickly stand up and tell the girls to go back to bed, while I start almost running towards the cells with Henry close behind me.
When I reach the cells and open the door I am smacked in the face by a chocolatey lavender scent, making Viggo go wild. I run to the cell that holds that scent and what I see almost makes my heart stop. A woman chained to the ceiling with a pool of blood dripping under her. When her eyes meet mine, my whole world stops.
“Mate.” Viggo roars and pries open the cell door, grabbing the chains holding her up and breaks them, burning our hands in the process.
I pick her up bridal style and hear her heartbeat begin to slow. I let out a loud growl and I start to run with her towards the pack hospital.
“Please stay with me.” I plead with her as I enter the hospital doors.
Evangelina’s POV
I haven’t been tortured in a long time. It has been extremely hard keeping my mouth shut. I could have told them the truth, that I saved the girls, but they already had a preconceived image of me. Me telling them the truth wouldn’t do anything because they would not believe me.
I could tell them to ask the girls, but they might think that when I ‘took’ the girls I forced them to say I saved them. There are too many variables of uncertainty, that is why I am quiet.
Well that and once they think they got all the information from me, they will just kill me. I know they don’t let rogues go. Rogues are feral beings that need to be put down, well that is what they believe. It is what most packs believe. I can’t let them kill me, my pack needs me. And I know that sooner or later my pack will come.
They are all trained by the best in every area there is. Including weaponry, tactical evasion, strategy for war and being inconspicuous, magic, combat fighting styles, these are just some of the areas they are expertly trained in. It isn’t just war and strategy, it's also healing, accounting, cooking, gardening, everything you can think of.
We are a pack of 500 people made up of many species, including dragon shifters, which are extremely rare. We also have bear shifters, witches, fae, and many hybrids.
Most hybrids are cast out of their pack, they are considered a disgrace so when they are I find them and bring them in if they wish.
Our pack works harmoniously with each other. I have subgroups within the pack who have moved out to form their own small pack, like the fae. I have about 40 fae that decided to live alone together in an area hidden by nature. They still wanted me to be their alpha, so they still answer to me if I need them, but for the most part they stay to themselves and I don’t bug them.
I am not a power hungry alpha who reigns with a fist of steel. I didn’t actually want to be alpha, but the pack members decided since I was the one who was “blessed” by the moon goddess that I would be alpha.
I always had the gift of seeing the future and past, which most people couldn’t understand because I was the daughter of the head healer and head warrior, in their eyes I shouldn’t have been blessed with seeing both past and future. Most seer’s can see one or the other, I could see both which was kind of like a double gift, which only the more powerful wolves got.
Then when I got my wolf at the age of 12 and I shifted I had an abnormal colored wolf, most children shift at 13, only alpha’s shift at 12, people really started to talk. At the age of 12, my wolf was almost bigger than the alpha’s. She has white fur, but it has a blue coat to it, almost like she is actually blue.
The other abnormality of her is that she has a perfect, black crescent moon on her forehead right between her silver eyes and top of her head.
When I shifted, my wolf was deemed not normal, it was a tie between being blessed and cursed, depending on who you asked. Since then I was treated differently. I took alpha and luna classes, warrior training, and extra tutoring on all powers and how to use them. I learned about all species and what their gifts were. I was also trained in torture, not because I was learning how to do it though.
Alpha had me build up a tolerance to torture, silver, and wolfsbane stating that because of my wolf people would be after me and he was trying to ensure that I would be able to withstand anything they did to me. He also did it to his son’s, Xavier and Lincoln. Saying the same thing, but because they are of alpha blood, people would be after them. After all, the Full Moon pack was one of the strongest in the south.
On the day before my 16th birthday, I had a dream. The moon goddess visited me and told me that when I turned 18, I would receive all the gifts. Telling me that I would need to use them in the future and not to tell anybody she visited me.
Then I turned 16 and I met my mate 2 years earlier than one could meet their mate. He was the alpha’s son Xavier, who was 18. We had studied and trained together so we became friends before then anyway.
We were both so happy. We were soon pushed into mating, the alpha wanted us as powerful as quickly possible, which meant mating.. So we did exactly that, a few months after I turned 16 we mated. I quickly became pregnant and we had a beautiful girl before the time I turned 17. We were so happy, nothing could ruin it. Until ten days before my 18th birthday.
Rogues, working with another pack, ambushed us. We fought until we couldn’t anymore. They were more powerful, they had witches and more wolves with powerful gifts. After they killed our old Alpha they caged me and inebriated Xavier and another walked up with our daughter. They made me watch while they beat the life out of Xavier.
I could feel everything they did to him and when I finally felt our tether snap I blacked out. I don’t remember much else and everytime I try to go back to those 10 days it is blocked. Something is blocking those memories, even with my seer ability. The only thing that I remember is feeling the tether to my daughter, Ziana, snap letting me know she was dead.
I am pulled from my thoughts with a knife sliding down my abdomen. Gritting my teeth I snap my eyes open and see Vick standing in front of me. His brown eyes look at me with what seems to be worry, for me, or him I am not sure.
“Look if you don’t start talking we are going to have to move to the next phase. I don’t want to do that. Please say something.” He says, almost begging me.
I just look at him, then down to the blood dripping from my abdomen to the ground. I look back up and he sighs. Why would he beg me to say something, this is quite the turn from him demanding I say something. I hear footsteps and see Jason come in, staring at me with his hazle eyes. I noticed before that they aren’t gifted. Most tortures aren’t, only because they could lose control of their power and kill the person they are interrogating. Only the most controlled people can successfully interrogate. Jason looks indifferent when he holds up a syringe. I can smell it from here. Wolfsbane. I try to take a closer look at the syringe, but Vick grabs it, successfully covering the measurement that is in it.
“Last chance to talk. This is going to be even more painful than what we did before.” He says with a hint of sadness in his voice. I just look at him with indifference.
He sighs and lifts the syringe to my neck and injects me. Little do they know I have been taking wolfsbane since I turned 12. It still burns like hellfire in my veins, but I need a higher dose for it to affect me like it would for a normal wolf. I grit my teeth and start to sweat, feeling the fire spread through my veins. My breathing is heavy and I can feel my wounds stop healing, almost like they were reversed and blood starts to drip down my body profusely. My body is working on fighting off the wolfsbane so it has stopped the healing of wounds.
“What the hll? She should be screaming in pain.” Jason says, staring at me in disbelief. I start to go in and out of consciousness when I hear footsteps running down the stairs. My wolf, Veena, starts whimpering in my head. I hear the footsteps stop outside my door as a scent registers in my brain, fire and rain, with a hint of freshness. I snap my head up and look at the man that the scent is coming from. His eyes turn black and I see him pry open the bars before I drift out. I feel him take me down and pick me up, sparks lighting my body like a mate bond, but that is impossible.
“Please stay with me.” Is the last thing I remember hearing before I black out totally.
